A $10,000 donation for flood
relief in the Netherlands was
made yesterday by American
Internat ional Underwriters
Corp,
The check was presented to
Prince Aschwin Lippe, brother
of Prince Bernhard of the
Netherlands, by Cornelius Van-
der Starr, chairman of the insur
ance firm's board of directors,
in New York.
It is the largest cash gift so
far by an American business
firm. The single largest donation
reported so far by the Nether
lands Embassy is $12,000 from
'the Eighty-second Airborne Di-
vision, which took part in the
liberation of the Netherlands,
landing September 17,1944, near
the German border.
Children at the Parkside Ele
mentary School, Silver Spring,
also made a donation for flood
reliefremembering the efforts
of two Dutch children who con
tributed heavily to yearly maga
zine subscription drives when
they were at the school.
Joanna and Wendela Waller,
daughters of Dirk Joannes Wal
ler, brought in more than $50
worth of subscription sales each
year they attended the school.
Their father was connected with
the Netherlands Economic Ship
ping and Financial Mission here
from 1943 to 1948.
This year the Parkside chil
dren decided to send $50 to the
Netherlands for flood relief.
