'Dyke Train' on Central
For Holland Flood Aid
"The Dike Train," a four-car
special that will collect contribu
tions for Dutch food victims in
Westchester County and southern
New York during a unique run
March 14, was announced jointly
yesterday by the New York Cen
tral System and Holland Flood
Relief.
Scheduled to leave Grand Cen
tral Terminal at 7:45 a. m., the
train will make stops in the Har
lem Valley to Chatham, N. Y., and
return down the Hudson iValley
from Rensselaer, N. Y.
The train, decorated with
Dutch insignia, will stop at sta
tions where organized flood relief
fund campaigns are under way. It
will also stop at stations of
organized communities wishing to
contribute, when flagged down by
a large cardboard windmill sign,
to be provided by New York Cen
tral afeents.
Aboard the train to receive con
tributions will be officials of Hol
land Flood Relief, members of the
Dutch Embassy and persons of
Dutch descent dressed in native
costume. All railroad personnel
operating the train, the idea for
which is attributed to Fred Hotch-
kiss, assistant conductor on the
Central's Harlem Division, are do
nating their services.
