PROSP ECTUS
op the
Under ibe above title the undersigned intends
to issue a weekly newspaper, in the English lan
guage, from the "Nieuwsbode Office," in the
City of Sheboygan, under the editorial charge
of Charles E. Morris J. Qointds.
The primary designs of the paper will be, an
energetic add faithful support of the interests of
Central and Northern Wisconsin; to attract-the
public attention towards its unrivalled agricul
tural, commerciul and manufacturing resources;
and to keep a full and true record of all their pro
gressive movements.
It will also be prominent among its objects, to
aid and sustain every Enterprise and Improve
ment, which is calculated to advance the perma
nent interests cf Sheboygan County.
It will be the aim of its conductors to make the
paper instructive, useful and entertaining to all
classes of readers, and to fill its columns with
the substantial and useful, rather than tho fanci
ful and theoretical.
As indicated by its name, the paper will advo
cate and sustain the principles and measures of
the "Democratic Party." It will also keep a
faithful record of the political movements of im
portance throughout the country.
Until further notice the Democratic Secretary
will be a five column paper, printed on new and
beautiful type, and send to mail subscribers at
$1 per annum; delivered by the carrier at §1,25
per annum, invariably in advance.
The first number of the "Secretary" will ap
pear about the middle of June, and if sufficient
encouragement is offered, I will hereafter publish
said paper semi-weekly.

Wetgeving. Gisteren is het wetgevend lig-
cbnatn dezes Staats andermaal te Madison bijeen
gekomen, om die zaken af te handelen, welke bij
'deszelfs verdaging onder behandeling bleven
die werkzaamheden behoort in de eerste
^Vaa'ts W geregtelijk onderzoek van den regter
Hubbell, beschuldigd van groote misdaden in
■feijne offidele betrekking. Ook bleef nog onder
•behandeling een wetsontwerp ter afschaffing der
■doodstraf-; een ander ter invoering eener Maine
Drankwet, enz., alle zaken van veel gewigt voor
de bevolking dezes Staats.
JgT Nog steeds lezen wij van de vreesselijko
hondsdolheid, welke hier en daar in de westelijke
Staten heerscht Zoo werd voor eenige dagen
een klein meisje te Chicago door ecu' dollen hond
gebeten, nopens de gevolgen waarvan de ouders
van het kind in den grootsten angst verkeuren.
Ook werden in de Hollnndscbe nederzetting Ca
lumet, 20 mijlen ten zuiden van Chicago, twin
tig koeijeo en zes ossen door een' dollen hond ge
beten, zoodat men zich verpligt zag die beesten af
te maken. Beide honden zijn gedood.

eene uit afgevaardigden beslaande Conventie te
Madison, ter benoeming van Staats Beambten
tegen de aanstaande najaarsverkiezingen. De
Free Soilers doen zulks morgen.

gende ieder gemiddeld 1500 pond Ook nog
een monster varken, wegende elfhonderd en ne
gen pond, gemest door H. B. Thayer, in Wal
worth county. Het dier is negen voet elf dui
men lang, drie voet negen duimeu hoog en 20
maanden oud. Een heer in Niagara County,
N. Y., kocht hem voor $200.
Missouri zend een geheel witto 3500 ponden
zware os naar die tentoonstelling.

dat het genootschnp den in Mei bestemden dag
van opening veel te vroeg door alle deelen der
wereld heeft bekend gemaakt. Zelfs de verschui
ving op den 1.7 Junij is nog te vroeg. Even zoo
min kan men ontkennen, dat het gebouw-veel te
kleipis. Dit vreemde havens zijn-bereids moer
dan 2074 kisten waren voor de tentoonstelling

tein heeft zijn aangenaam reisgezelschap behou

Do Richmond Christian Advocate merkt aan,

zonden aan de Boston Journal tegelijk met de

Mei te Rome overleden.
Het Hoog Gereglshof van Wisconsin houdt
tegenwoordig eene zitting in onze hoofdstad Ma
dison.
De lustige Milwaukiers zullen binnen Ptte-
lijke dagen het genoegen ln-bben, de "dikke
moeder" Sholcg, het zwaarste schepsel ter wereld,
in de gedaante eener vrouw, te kunnen zien. Zij
weegt niet minder dan zeven honderd vier en zes
tig pond, en het contrast dat zich bij baar voor
doet is een vrouwtje van de kleinste soort, zijude
slechts eenige puimen lnng.
Wo-nslng namiddag 11. werd in de Milwau
kie rivier liet lijk opgevischt van een' man, met
name John Quinn, wien men dacht aan zijnen
dood gekomen te zijn door bij ongeluk in de ri
vier te vallen en daarna door het rad van de
propeller "Forest City" eenige wonden ontvan
gen te hebben. Bij de lijkschouwing bleek even
wel, dat deze persoon moorddadig van het leven
beroofd was, van welke daad eenen William
Richmond verdacht gehouden werd, die ook da
delijk daarop in hechtenis genomen is.
Uit het verslug van den toestand der ge
meente Schiedam blijkt, dat hot getal korenwijn-
stokerijen in die stad 171 bedraagt, waarmede
in een naauw verband staan 4 distilleerderijen,
37 mouterijen, 15 brnndersmolens en 12 kuipe
rijen of fustmakerijen, on dat de toestand der fa-
brijken gunstig was.
De tafel-bewegingen zijn thans in Duitsch-
land aan de orde van den dag. Bij velen geluk
ken de proevenbij velen ook niet In Ber-
