'27c29. Op dcu dag zijner feestviering werd
hij door Z. M. den Koning begiftigd met de rid-
ider orde vs;a den Nuderl andschen Leeuw.
Akstekdau, S Novembt*. Naar hetgeen
blijkt, begint men zich cr zeer aan te laten gele
gen liggen, om onze zeemugl. zoo spoedig de om
standigheden het toelaten, te doen deelen in de
voordeeh-a, welke aan oorlogschepen kannen ver
schaft worden, door de toepassing van een uiatig
sioomvermogen en de werking der waterschroef.
Op last van den minister van murine zijn en wor
den plannen ontworpen voor de verschillende stoom
schroefschepen, welke men aanvankelijk verlangt
te bezitten, en waarvan er drie te Amsterdam en
een le Vüssingen, op de rijks wenen, moeten ge
bouwd worden. Aan twee dier schepen zijn de
namen Medusa en Borneo gegeven, en voor het
•eerstgenoemde, eene korvet, zijn de voorbereiden
de werkzaamheden te Amsterdam reeds met
kracht aangevangen, en zal men spoedig kunnen
orergaan tot bet op stapel zetten van deze nieuwe
-soort van schepen, welke, voor de dienst in de
■kolonie» vooral, zoo bijzonder nattig zullen kun
stad worden daargeateld.
