for candidates for the following positions in our Terneuzen office:
Vroon is an international shipping
company with a fleet ot about 150 vessels
and approximately 3,890 seafarers. In
addition, the company currently has more
than 30 newbuilding vessels on order.
With its head office based in Breskens.
the Netherlands, Vroon has offices in
Barendrecht, Terneuzen, Den Helder.
Aberdeen, Stokesley, Geneva, Singapore and
Fremantte (Australia). Vroon has about 380
shore-based employees.
Vroon Ship Management B.V. (VSM),
located in Terneuzen, is part of the Vroon
Group. VSM is responsible for the technical
management of some 26 Vroon-owned
ocean-going vessels (tankers, livestock
vessels and car carriers) and employs a
seagoing staff of about 808.

QHSE Department
QHSE Manager
As QHSE Manager, you manage QHSE processes,
meet legal regulations (e.g. ISM/ISPS), work with
external audit teams, liaise with group QHSE
and lead the safety culture/awareness within the
Company. You will develop, implement and ensure
execution of QHSE policies. In this function you are
responsible for managing the employees within the
QHSE team. Furthermore, you will coordinate and
monitor the execution and analyses of audits and
manage the follow up of vetting inspections.
To be considered for this position you wilt require
a Higher Technical Vocational Education diploma,
excellent knowledge of QA and HSE systems
and a minimum of five years' experience in a
managerial position. You have strong analytical and
managerial skills and are able to communicate
and influence at all levels within the organisation.
In addition, you have the ability to lead, develop
and motivate the team, ensuring continuous
professional and personal development.
Safety Officer
In this function you are responsible for monitoring
safety, health, environmental, quality and
security standards on board the vessels and
providing appropriate and timely advice. You
act as Designated Person Ashore (DPA) for a
fleet in accordance with the ISM code and as
Company Security Officer (CSOl in accordance
with the ISPS code. You conduct vessel audits at
regular intervals, write audit reports and accident
investigation.reports. In addition, you ensure
appropriate training, coaching and monitoring
on safety and environmental aspects of all vessel
crews and office staff to meet regulations and
improve safety awareness.
To excel in this function you should have an
Intermediate Vocational Education diploma
(MBO) e.g. Occupational and Safety Education,
a minimum of three years' work experience in
an industrial branch, preferably in the marine
or process industry and proficient knowledge of
Safety and Quality systems. Furthermore, you have
excellent interpersonal, auditing and reporting
skills and are able to communicate and influence
at all levels within the organisation.
Ship Management Department
Fleet Manager
As Fleet Manager you are responsible for the
ship management of part of the fleet. You
coordinate a Ship Management Team including
Superintendent(s), Crewing Officerjs] and
Purohaser(s).
You will be responsible for the condition
and crew of the assigned vessels, related
operational expenses, unplanned off hires,
policy deviations, port state control and vetting
inspections. Additionally, you will regularly visit
the vessels and supervise repairs and dockings in
accordance with the maintenance planning.
Our preferred candidate for this function has a
Higher Nautical or Technical Education diploma
and extensive experience as Chief Engineer/First
Engineer and/or in ship repair/ship management.
In addition, you have strong planning, organisational
and managerial skills and are able to mentor and
coach staff on an ongoing basis.
Superintendent
In this function you will control and report the
technical conditions as well as the operational
expenses for a group of vessels in the fleet.
You are responsible for technical-related
unplanned off hires, port state control and vetting
inspections.
Furthermore, you will maintain communication
with the Operations Department on all day-to-day
matters in respect of voyage operations. You will
schedule and supervise planned and unplanned
repairs, inspections and dry dockings. As
Superintendent you are responsible for the class
status of the vessel and for arranging surveys.
You work in a team consisting of a Crewing
Officer, a Purchaser and possibly employees from
other departments.
To excel in this function you should have a Higher
Nautical or Technical Education diploma and
extensive experience as Chief Engineer/First
Engineer and/or in ship-repair/ship management.
In addition, you have strong planning and
organisational skills, are willing to travel
frequently and are able to coordinate and work
under pressure.
