zijn.
Karlstrom kent het enorme gebied
als zijn broekzak. Als tiener al trok
hij met zijn vader, eveneens geo
loog, er weken doorheen. Ook reis
de hij mee toen Karlstrom senior
in 1969 deelnam aan een expeditie
die een kopie was van die van de
ontdekker van het gebied, John
Wesley Powell. Karlstrom: „Geolo
gie is hier overal aanwezig, ik zie
het, ik voel het. Onze missie is in
ieder geval om het grote publiek
in die ervaring te laten delen."
