geeft het gezin het, na tien jaar
vechten, op en besluit terug te
keren naar Iran. Net op dat mo
ment valt het document alsnog
in de bus.

Maar het vertrek is al gepland,
de familie is vastbesloten. Van
Veen koopt de tickets voor man,
vrouw en twee kinderen en be
looft het eerste jaar maandelijks
vijfhonderd euro over te maken,
totdat de gedeeltelijk arbeidson
geschikte Kuimars een baan
vindt. De 123 kilo overgewicht
op Schiphol leidt op de valreep
nog even tot een akkefietje met
Kuimars, die niet weg wil zon
der al zijn koffers. De driedui
zend euro wordt uiteindelijk
óók betaald uit de portemonnee
van hun steun en toeverlaat.
Eenmaal in Iran wordt de situa
tie er echter niet beter op. De
toon van de regelmatige tele
foongesprekken met Wim wordt
somberder, werk of huis vinden:
het lukt allemaal niet. Wim en
Marja vliegen naar Teheran,
waar het duo hoort dat de fami
lie weer terug wil keren. Dan
blijkt dat de IND de verblijfsver
gunning voor Nilofaar niet meer
nodig acht, het gezin is immers
weer in Iran. Wim steekt op
nieuw al zijn energie in de pa
pierwinkel die vereist is en
blijft- het gezin ook financieel
steunen.
Uiteindelijk is er goed nieuws:
de familie mag terug, ook moe
der Nilofaar. Het gezin huist ver
volgens maandenlang in de klei
ne woning van Wim, die zelf
met zijn vriendin in een smalle
bedstee slaapt. Ook de ouders
van het echtpaar, meegereisd
vanuit Iran, zitten overdag voor
de tv in de huiskamer van Wim.
Uiteindelijk, als Wim tot wet
houder is benoemd, krijgt het ge
zin een eigen huis toegewezen.
Treffende beelden: de immer ac
tieve Wim staat op de ladder de
muren te schilderen, terwijl Kui
mars en Nilofaar toekijken. „Je
bent grenzeloos in je werk",
merkt vriendin Anke niet ten on
rechte op. „Wim is iemand uit
een vervlogen tijdperk", zo
klinkt de voice over. Maar of hij
het weer zo zou doen? Wim
lacht even: „Ik zou geloof ik wel
even kijken hoeveel ruimte ik
daarvoor heb. Iets weloverwoge-
ner handelen." GPD

AMSTERDAM - SBS6 brengt volgend jaar het programma,
Sterren in het Circus, als vervolg op Sterren dansen op het
ijs.
Bekende Nederlanders moeten in de trapeze gaan hangen,
goochelen en een clownsact opvoeren, zei SBS6-woord voer

LOS ANGELES - In Los Angeles zijn de genomineerden
voor de American Music Awards van 2006 bekendgemaakt.
De meeste zijn voor Mariah Carey, de Red Hot Chili Peppers,
en de Black Eyed Peas. Zij dingen in drie categorieën mee.
De American Music Awards worden op 21 november uitge
reikt in' Los Angeles. In tegenstelling tot bij de Grammy
Awards, die door de muziekindustrie zelf worden toegekend,
