Op MTV Nederland is vanavond
de tweede editie van Making the
Band onder leiding van Diddy
te zien. De eerste editie, waarin
hij een gemengde hiphopgroep
vormde, is hier niet uitgezon
den. De groep Diddy Da Band is
inmiddels ter ziele. Het begon al
lemaal veelbelovend met een
hit, maar wegens het onderling
geruzie van de groepsleden en
hun onprofessionele gedrag, zag
Diddy zich genoodzaakt de
groep te ontbinden. Pikant de

meidengroep probeert de
New-Yorkse rapper het on
danks het Da Band-debacle op
nieuw. Hij heeft immers een ei
gen platenlabel, Bad Boy Enter
tainment, in de lucht te houden.
Met het megasucces van onder
meer Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lo
pez, tevens zijn ex-geliefde, en
Missy Elliot heeft Combs zich
bovendien al ruimschoots bewe
zen als talentscout.
Audities
Prettig van Making the band,
dat vorig jaar in de VS al te zien
was, is dat de kijker zich niet
door eindeloze audities van
zelfbenoemde sterren hoeft te
worstelen. De voorselecties in
New York, Miami, Chicago en
Los Angeles zijn keurig in
één uitzending geperst. Aardig
zijn ook de buitenlocaties tegen
de skyline van New York of
Miami Beach. Een jury maakt
een schifting, pas in aflevering 2
leggen de negentien geselecteer
de dames hun zang- en danskun
sten, en ook niet geheel onbe
langrijk, hun looks ter beoorde
ling voor aan Diddy. „Ik ben op
zoek naar no-nonsense, hard
werkende talenten die bereid
zijn eikaars verschillen te accep
teren om te streven naar succes
als groep", houdt Diddy de su-

Naarmate de auditie vordert,
trekt het gezicht van de talents
cout steeds verder in de onweers
stand. Combs is 'not amused' en
heeft meer aandacht voor zijn
mobieltje dan voor de dames die
zich uitsloven op het podium.
De megaster is duidelijk niet
erg onder de indruk van hun
kwaliteiten. „Eerlijk gezegd: ik
heb nog geen ster gezien", zo be
klaagt de 36-jarige ster zich tus
sen de audities door bij de men
sen die de voorselectie hebben
gemaakt, trouwens ook niet de
minsten in de Amerikaanse mu-

ROTTERDAM - In april komt er een televisiezender waarop
goede doelen laten zien wat zij doen met donaties. Dat zei za
terdag cultureel antropoloog Arjan Erkel. Erkel, voormalig
medewerker van Artsen zonder Grenzen, helpt mee het sta
tion op te zetten.
Erkel en zijn collega's werven goede doelen en adverteerders.
Tot nu toe doen veertig charitatieve instellingen mee, terwijl
er ruimte is voor 150. Elke organisatie krijgt twintig minuten
voor het filmpje, dat rouleert. Het kanaal zendt dag en nacht
uit.
Goede Doelen TV is voorlopig alleen te zien in het Westland,
omdat dat het meest 'gedigitaliseerde' gebied van het land is.
Voor digitale televisie is een speciale ontvanger nodig. ANP
DEN HAAG - Regisseur en theaterproducent Madeleine Jut-
ten-Matzer heeft de toneelrechten gekocht van de bestseller
Knielen op een bed violen van Jan Siebelink. Matzer brengt
de voorstelling op de planken in het seizoen 2007/2008. Het is
nog niet bekend wie in het stuk gaan spelen.
Siebelinks roman over de wurggreep van het geloof op het ge
zin waarin hij opgroeide, won vorig jaar de Ako Literatuur
prijs. Inmiddels zijn er 225.000 exemplaren van het boek ver

AMSTERDAM - Regisseuse Mijke de Jong maakt een op de
populaire Hoe overleef ï/c-boeken van schrijfster Francine
Oomen gebaseerde film. Dat maakte producent Burny Bos za
terdag bekend. De Jong maakte eerder de internationaal be
kroonde jeugdfilm Bluebird en de telefilm Uitgesloten.
Volgens Burny Bos wordt nog bekeken welke van de acht
Hoe overleef i/c-boeken wordt verfilmd. „De hoofdpersonen
worden in de reeks boeken ouder", legt hij uit. „Een film
naar het eerste boek maak je eigenlijk voor een andere doel
groep dan een film naar het laatste boek."
Bos denkt zelfs al aan een mogelijke televisieserie als de film
net zo'n groot succes blijkt als de boeken. De nog titelloze
film moet in 2007 in de bioscopen te zien zijn. ANP
