Jan Smit is nu negentien jaar.
Beroemd in Nederland sinds hij
als tienjarig jochie een hit had
met Ik zing dit lied voor jou al
leen, de ode aan zijn oma. Na
die klapper beleefde hij zijn
grootste successen in Duitsland,
maar met de soap als aanjager
wil hij zich helemaal richten op
Nederland. „Succes in Duits
land en Oostenrijk is hartstikke
mooi, maar het is nog mooier
om in eigen land applaus te krij
gen."
Varend op de publicitaire wind
van de realityreeks brengt de
platenmaatschappij een single
uit. Volgende maand volgt een
nieuw album van Jan. „Tot de
cember heb ik geen optredens in
Duitsland geboekt. Want als ik
het in Nederland wil proberen,
moet ik daar wel de tijd voor ne
men." Eerder kón het niet, met
die drukke Duitse agenda en wil
de hij het ook niet. „Hier was ik
dat jongetje. Wil je met eigen
teksten op het toneel staan,
moet je wel wat te melden heb
ben. Nu heb ik dat."
Volendam gaf hem het vertrou
wen om de koers naar Neder
land te verleggen. Bij concerten
vorig jaar in zijn geboortedorp
stond hij voor volle zalen. Ap
plaus van leeftijdsgenoten on
derstreepte zijn imagoverschui
ving van bedenkelijk oma's jo
chie naar geaccepteerd lekker
ding. Opeens mócht Jan Smit.
Het nieuwe zelfvertrouwen in
spireerde hem om samen met
vrienden eigen nummers te
schrijven. Een liedje over zijn le
ven tussen podium en publiek,
bijvoorbeeld. En een nummer
over een vriendin van 25 jaar
die begin dit jaar overleed. „Ze
was heel ziek. Toen ze midden
in die lijdensweg zat, vroeg ze of
ik een liedje over haar wilde ma
ken. Samen hebben we er veel
over zitten praten. Tot ik de
woorden had om het gevoel bij
haar te beschrijven." Jan is
ouder geworden, maar niet an
ders. „Het lieve jongetje van
toen is gebleven. Maar er is nu
ook inhoud bij gekomen." GPD

Test, de Nationale Gezondheidstest en de Spiritualiteitstest
werkt tv-producent Eyeworks aan een nieuw format in het
genre 'test-tv'. Op verzoek van het Koningin Wilhelmina
Fonds ontwikkelt het tv-bedrijf een Nationale Kankertest
voor televisie.
In dit programma kunnen kijkers meer te weten komen over
de ziekte en leren ze onder meer wat zelf kunnen doen om dè
ziekte te voorkomen. Ook moet het programma het aantal do
nateurs van het KWF - nu 750.000 mensen - helpen vergro
ten. Het programma is gepland voor het najaar. GPD
HILVERSUM - Carlo Boszhard is het komende jaar opnieuw
te zien bij RTL. De presentator verlengt zijn contract met
RTL Nederland met een jaar en nog eens een optie voor drie
jaar. Op dit moment presenteert Boszhard Life Cooking,
Wint't In't en Staatsloterij Live.
Carlo Boszhard is blij dat hij met de verlenging van het con
tract een mooi programmapakket kan combineren met zijn
theaterwerk. Vanaf oktober is hij te zien als Lumière in de
Disney/Van den Ende-musical Beauty and the Beast (Belle
en het Beest). RTL wilde Boszhard graag behouden. „Hij is
een breed en ervaren talent dat al jaren succesvolle program-
ma's bij ons maakt", aldus RTL-directeur Fons van Wester-

HILVERSUM - Nieuwslezer Philip Freriks (62) krijgt mis
schien een rol als presentator van een uitgebreid achtuurjour
naal op zondagavonden. Op dit moment kent het NOS Jour
naal op zondag om 20.00 uur een bulletin van ongeveer tien
minuten, maar de leiding speelt met de gedachte dat uit te
breiden naar ruim twintig minuten, aldus een NOS-woord-
voerder gisteren.
Als die nieuwe opzet doorgaat wil hoofdredacteur H. Laroes
het bulletin laten presenteren door Freriks. Die is op dit mo
ment een van de presentatoren van de achtuurjournaals op
de overige dagen, maar stopt daar na dit jaar mee. Hij wordt
dan opgevolgd door Charles Groenhuijsen. ANP
