Children's Aid to Holland
To the New York Herald Tribune
In reporting the recent presen
tation to Holland Flood Relief of
a purse collected by the 80,000
children in the 600 Jewish religious
schools affiliated with the Jewish
Education Committee of New
York, your paper did not, to my
mind, sufficiently stress the fact
that the children voluntarily col
lected the money out of a deep
feeling of gratitude for Holland's
leadership in the cause of religious
freedom.
Particularly at this time, it is
well to remember that Holland
opened wide her doors to Jewish
refugees every time a European
country suffered a wave of anti-
Semitism. It is a story that be
gan with the thirteenth century
and continues right down to the
present day.
I am happy to say that the cam
paign to help the valiant Dutch
is continuing among our children
in New York's religious schools.
