boer-vrouwen.
„Ton wilde niet zo lang met een ca
mera om zich heen", herinnert Pe
tra zich. „Hij weerde altijd alles
wat op visite leek. Dat vond hij
een verplichting, en hij wilde niets
wat op een verplichting leek." Rog
iers frustratie over het gebrek aan
vooruitgang is in de film soms
bijna tastbaar. Heyboer belde vaak
's avonds naar Petra in haar huis-
je-annex-galerie, maar daar mocht
Rogier niet bij zijn. „Ik wilde met
haar de diepte in, maar er waren
voortdurend klanten en dan kon
ik niet uit de voeten. De galerie
was zeven dagen in de week open,
maar om vijf uur ging de poort
dicht. Dan stond ik op straat. Petra
begreep heel goed wat ik wilde,
maar haar uitgangspunt was: alles
komt op je pad. Wat gebeurt,
moet gebeuren. Ik heb heel veel ge
duld moeten hebben."
Op een van die dagen dat het weer
eens niet wilde lukken, drukte Pe
tra haar neef een doos in handen
met eigen video-opnamen. Hij
heeft dankbaar gebruik gemaakt
van haar eigen registratie van het
dagelijks leven in Den lip. Petra
realiseert zich dat het werk van
haar neef van historisch belang is,
en zegt dat ze daarom ook met
haar eigen materiaal is gekomen.
„Deze film is van belang voor als
wij er niet meer zijn. Het is ook
fijn dat Ton niet vergeten wordt.
Iemand die zo bijzonder is als hij,
moet blijven voortleven."
