hij in een dagboekje dat hij bij
hield op de BBC-website: hij was
doodsbang. „Ik ben geen oorlogs
verslaggever maar een schrijver die
is gespecialiseerd in buitengewone
culinaire verhalen. Het was nooit
de bedoeling dat ik ooit terecht
zou komen in categorie-A oorlogs
gebied en een kogelvrij vest zou
dragen, maar ik ben blij dat ik het
heb gedaan."
